If he played for the Lakers, Heat or any other big city team we'd be talking about his selection. Coaches respect good defensive teams and anchors on those teams more than they do individual players who might happen to play good defense. And I think it's deserved that 3 players on the Grizzlies got recognized.

The Nuggets? Iggy was okay, but he made a lot of mistakes too and looked very disengaged at times.

The coaches also respect being good on defense WHILE being a huge part on the team and having an offensive game. If you can be Lebron or CP3 while still being great on defense, that's very noteworthy. Unless you're a hustle guy like tony allen or Joakim Noah--which Iggy most certainly is not--it's best to leave him off the team.

Re: Nuggets’ Andre Iguodala kept off of NBA’s all-defensive teams

So true lol

Re: Nuggets’ Andre Iguodala kept off of NBA’s all-defensive teams

agitator.... :-)

Re: Nuggets’ Andre Iguodala kept off of NBA’s all-defensive teams

How is Carmelo Anthony left off this list...

Re: Nuggets’ Andre Iguodala kept off of NBA’s all-defensive teams

That's cause you have a coach and a team that's not known for their defense. Synergy say he is one of the best and the best of people given votes for defensive team honors when it comes to defending in isolation situations. He is the one real change from last year to this year, where Nuggets went from close to dead last in points per possession to eleventh. Even greater post all star break. Ibaka is a poor one on one defender and is a one dimensional shot blocker. The Knicks were better when Chandler was off the court than when he was on it defensively. James isn't called for fouls ever and in isolation defense he isn't even top five at his position. The awards are based on hype and hype alone. People that vote for the awards should have to write something explaining why they voted that way and giving valid arguments as to why they voted that way as well. The On/Off numbers are available on NBA's website. The synergy stats are available on synergy.

Re: Nuggets’ Andre Iguodala kept off of NBA’s all-defensive teams

Iguodala sucks? You sound like a bitter fan from Philly or something. It doesn't seem like you watch any Nuggets games to see what impact the man has on the team DEFENSIVELY. Some of you people are clearly blind and hating on the man just because he was struggling with his offense on a team that he just got with for the first season only, after he was with one team for many years. This is all-defensive team, not offense. The man is a great defender and does more than just dunk you idiot.

Re: Nuggets’ Andre Iguodala kept off of NBA’s all-defensive teams

He IS a homer Nuggets reporter. Move Iggy to the starting three spot, and have Dudley or Thabo start at the two. Both guys are good defenders, great in Thabo's case. Both are knock down shooters, Dudley more so. Dudley has the higher basketball I.Q. and is a fantastic cutter where as Thabo is defensively more versatile. Have Evan back up whoever the two guard is. When Gallo comes back move Iggy back to the two spot and have Dudley or Thabo come in for Iggy. Heck they are probably versatile enough to play some back up three as well to still keep minutes open for Evan. You have to get rid of Miller and unfortunately Brewer(unless he becomes a much better shooter and Karl stops letting him gamble on everything). Back up point you let Stone step in or you can have Iggy be the point forward and Evan handle some of those duties when Ty rests. When Gallo comes back that helps the ball handling duties as well. Though you could probably pick up C.J. Watson cheap, who'd be great. Think you need a Reggie Evans type that is going to teach our bigs how to defend the post and the value of boxing out. I'd also see if you can get Rodman and Barkley to spend some one on one time with Faried and teach him some things. Barkley was about Faried's size and could post up well. Rodman could teach Faried how to defend anybody(though to be fair you were able to get away with more during his time). Now you'll probably have to move Chandler and some other things to make it happen, and might able to even get a pick or two out of the deal if you do move Chandler and some other pieces. I think it'd help the roster a lot, but again, no point in doing anything because Karl will always find his favorites and guys he just hates, and will find a way to lose and make wins harder than they have to be as a result of it.

Re: More Masai Ujiri quotes about the Nuggets moving forward

Only problem I see with the everything will get better approach is that all the other contending teams plan on improving too so that even IF our guys improve, we may again be in the same postion in the future.
